These terms cover www.briankfung.com, its membership and its sign-in pages. The site is run by Brian K Fung Media, LLC; "I" and "me" below mean Brian K. Fung, who runs the company and writes the site. By using the site you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

My writing and photos

Everything I write, photograph and film for this site is © Brian K. Fung, all rights reserved, unless a page says otherwise. You're welcome to quote short passages with credit and a link back to the original page. For anything more, such as republishing a whole post or using a photo, ask me first through the contact form.

Not medical, pharmacy, legal or financial advice

I'm a pharmacist, and I write about healthcare, informatics, careers and personal finance to educate and share my experience. Nothing on this site is medical, pharmacy, legal, tax or financial advice for your situation. Reading the site, joining the membership or talking with me doesn't create a pharmacist–patient or any other professional relationship. For decisions about your health, medicines, money or legal matters, talk to a qualified professional who knows your circumstances. In a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Opinions on the site are my own and not those of any employer, client or organization I'm involved with, past or present.

Accounts

Anyone can read the site. You need an account for the membership, and accounts are for people 13 and older; if you're under 18, ask a parent or guardian before buying a paid membership. You agree to give accurate information and keep your sign-in secure. I may suspend or close accounts used for spam, abuse or anything unlawful.

Memberships

Supporting my work is voluntary. Paid tiers are monthly contributions toward independent work. They don't unlock paywalled content; what each tier includes is listed on the support page. Contributions go to Brian K Fung Media, LLC, which isn't a charity, so they aren't tax-deductible.

Billing. Paid memberships are billed monthly in advance through Clerk Billing, with payments processed by Stripe, and renew automatically each month until you cancel.

Cancelling. Cancel at any time from the billing section of your account page. You keep your tier until the end of the month you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.

Refunds. I don't refund partial months. If you were charged by mistake or twice, tell me through the contact form and I'll refund the charge.

Changes. If I change a tier's price, I'll tell you before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

Coffee chats and bookings

Coffee chats and other sessions are booked through Calendly, under the price, length and rescheduling details shown on each booking page. They're conversations about careers, informatics and my experience, and the advice section above applies to them too.

Affiliate links

Some links on the site are affiliate or referral links, marked on the pages that use them. If you buy or sign up through one, I may earn a commission or bonus at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Using the site fairly

Please don't use the site to break the law, send spam or abuse through the contact form, try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours, or interfere with the site's operation, including by crawling it so heavily that it slows down for others.

Other sites and services

The site links to and embeds other sites and services, such as YouTube, Google Maps, Calendly and the sites of companies I've worked with. I'm not responsible for their content or practices, and their own terms apply when you use them.

No warranties

I work to keep the site accurate and available, but it's provided "as is". Information can go out of date, and I don't promise that the site will be error-free or always online.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Brian K Fung Media, LLC and I aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim about the site or the membership is limited to the amount you paid for the membership in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you haven't paid anything.
