What www.briankfung.com collects, why, who helps run it, and how to see, change or delete your information. No ads, no data sales, no tracking cookies.
Last updated: October 14, 2026
This site, www.briankfung.com, is run by Brian K Fung Media, LLC. "I" and "me" below mean Brian K. Fung, who runs the company and writes the site. This policy covers the site, its membership and the sign-in pages at accounts.briankfung.com.
The short version: I collect as little as I can, I don't show ads, I don't sell or rent your information, and the site's analytics don't use cookies.
What I collect and why
When you read the site. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and reports totals such as pages, referrers, countries and device types rather than identifying you.
When you send a message. The contact form asks for your name, email address, a topic and your message. If you're signed in, the message also notes that you're a member and which plan you're on. It's delivered to my inbox by email through Resend and isn't stored in a database on the site. I use it to reply to you, and I keep correspondence as long as it's useful to me or as the law requires.
When you create an account. Accounts are handled by Clerk. It stores your email address, your name, a profile photo if you sign in with Google, and records of your sign-ins. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your basic profile (name, email address and photo) with the site; I don't get access to anything else in your Google account.
When you become a supporter. Payments are handled by Clerk Billing and processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe; I never see your full card number. I can see your plan, payment status and billing history, which I need to run the membership.
On the supporters wall. Your name, and a note if you write one, appears on the support page only with your permission. Ask me and I'll take it down.
Updates by email. The free membership includes occasional updates by email. Every email will include a link to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing doesn't affect your membership.
When you book a time. The coffee chat and other booking pages use Calendly. What you enter there is collected by Calendly and shared with me so we can meet, under Calendly's privacy notice.
Cookies
The site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Clerk sets the cookies needed to keep you signed in, on the membership pages (/support, /account and /contact) and on accounts.briankfung.com.
Some pages embed other services, which may set their own cookies once they load: YouTube videos (in privacy-enhanced mode, loaded only when you press play), Google Maps in a few posts, and the Calendly scheduler on the booking pages.
Who helps run the site
I share information only with the companies that run parts of the site for me, and only what each one needs:
- Vercel for hosting and page-view analytics
- Clerk for accounts, sign-in and membership billing
- Stripe for payment processing
- Resend for delivering email
- Google for "Continue with Google" sign-in, and for YouTube and Google Maps embeds
- Calendly for scheduling
These providers are based in the United States, and your information is processed there. Each has its own privacy policy for what it does with data it holds.
I don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. I'll disclose information only if the law requires it, or to protect the site, its readers or me from fraud or abuse.
How long I keep it
Account and membership records last for as long as you have an account, plus whatever time the law requires for payment and tax records. Server logs and analytics are kept for the periods Vercel sets. Messages stay in my email for as long as they're useful to me.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me to show you, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you, or to delete your account. Send the request through the contact form under "Something else" and I'll take care of it. You can cancel a paid membership at any time from your account page, and unsubscribe from updates with the link in any email.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act. I'll honor any rights that apply to you.
Children
Anyone can read the site. Accounts are for people 13 and older, because US law (COPPA) doesn't allow collecting personal information from younger children without a parent's verifiable consent. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or sent me personal information, tell me and I'll delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, and accounts and payments are handled by providers that specialize in them. No system is perfectly secure, so I can't promise your information will never be exposed, but I'll tell affected members promptly if something goes wrong.
Changes to this policy
When I change this policy I'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes I'll also note it on the site or email members.
